Summary

NEW FAV BOOK

Audiobook is amazing。 Such well-written dialogue, like listening to non fiction。 Fleetwood Mac parallels abound!

If I could give more stars I would。 Daisy Jones & the Six is everything and more I have always wanted in a book。 TJR is not only an immaculate author but she is tremendously good at connecting you with all of the characters and being able to feel their emotions。

The book was an ok read。 I was expecting something spectacular based on how much everyone seems to love it。 It did not wow me。 I was interested enough to finish it but it’s a story we’ve all heard before and it’s been done better。

I loved the aesthetic of this book and the style in which it was written。 The interview type of writing is one I don’t read often, but the author still managed to convey a very powerful storyline。 This book is a great read and I will be recommending it to others- especially for the character Daisy Jones。 What a woman。 This book made me happy and sad and FEEL THINGS。 An emotional rollercoaster I am more than willing to ride again。

TJR’s writing never fails to impress me。 she writes with an unmatchable fluency and eloquence, so much so that i cant even envy her writing but i can only appreciate it instead。 took me a little longer to get into than malibu rising or evelyn hugo did, but nevertheless, i was left yearning more of her writing。 each character has an undeniable level of complexity and none were left undeveloped- that is exactly what makes her writing so incredible。

all i could think of while reading this was fleetwood mac’s 1997 live performance of silver springs during the dance tour where stevie just stared into lindsey buckingham’s soul… truly iconic

so incredibly amazing。 it’s consistency on being so fcking well written, interesting and real is something I hadn’t seen anywhere else。 One of the best reads in my life and I’m having a really hard time believing anything is ever going to beat it。。 Spent the night awake reading it but I’d do wrong with my sleep like a trillion times for this book。。 if Evelyn Hugo is half this good (as it should since it’s so acclaimed) I’m asking Taylor’s hand in marriage。

I really liked this! Very cool transcript concept and a little “twist” at the end。 A rock and roll story with feelings I could actually feel!

Wow。 I was unsure how Jenkins Reid would be able to top The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I found hugely original and entertaining, but I think I love Daisy Jones and The Six even more。 From the blurb, this isn’t a book I would immediately want to pick up, and it was definitely a combination of racing through Evelyn Hugo and Bookstagram that made me read this。 I’m so glad I did!The style of this book is so original (which seems a speciality of Jenkins Reid), being told interview style by Wow。 I was unsure how Jenkins Reid would be able to top The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I found hugely original and entertaining, but I think I love Daisy Jones and The Six even more。 From the blurb, this isn’t a book I would immediately want to pick up, and it was definitely a combination of racing through Evelyn Hugo and Bookstagram that made me read this。 I’m so glad I did!The style of this book is so original (which seems a speciality of Jenkins Reid), being told interview style by members of fictional 70s rock band, Daisy Jones and the Six。 Taylor Reid really nails every character。 They have their own ways of talking and their personalities really shine through。 I especially loved how human the characters were, and it’s so clever the way each character remembers a situation slightly differently- be it misremembering the city a certain event happened in, or the phrasing of something someone said。 Moment like this really made the book for me。 This is all in addition to it being an absolutely killer story! Jenkins Reid throws so much at the reader- songwriting, fallings out, addiction and heartbreak。 I’m actually quite sad this band isn’t real, as I would love to do some more research into them and watch some of their performances! 。。。more

I read this in one sitting。 Like Evelyn Hugo, Reid has a way of creating a world that feels so real that you want to google the characters to see where they are now。 Told in interview format with each member of Daisy Jones & The Six, a band that rose to prominence in the 1970’s, we see the different perspectives of both the band members and those adjacent to them and what happened as the band fragmented。

Claudia Fernández

Absolutely my new favourite book。 Taylor Jenkins-Reid is a true talent, not only is her writing beautiful and captivating, it is incredibly real and believable。 It makes you question the barrier between fiction and reality。 I hope she never stops writing。

i have never read anything like this before。 i love how TJR wrote this and laid it out。 it took me a while to get used to the interview aspect of the book and switching through each person’s turn to talk but i eventually wrapped my mind around it。 this book goes through the story of a fictional band in the ‘70s and how they formed & what happened throughout their lives whilst being a part of this band。 and although it’s not your everyday kind of typical read, or not anything super page turning i i have never read anything like this before。 i love how TJR wrote this and laid it out。 it took me a while to get used to the interview aspect of the book and switching through each person’s turn to talk but i eventually wrapped my mind around it。 this book goes through the story of a fictional band in the ‘70s and how they formed & what happened throughout their lives whilst being a part of this band。 and although it’s not your everyday kind of typical read, or not anything super page turning interesting plot wise, i honestly think this was a really good book。 i loved it sm actually, which i kind of had a feeling i would。 daisy jones’ character caught my eye right off the bat and i was intrigued from the first chapter。 how she was described as a girl that no one really payed attention to, or no one really truly cared for。 how she’d never felt actual attachment from anyone her entire life, growing up, with her parents not really caring for her and not truly connecting with anyone else。 i felt for daisy in this moment and in the beginning she was also described to have lots of potential (with her voice) which i couldn’t wait to read more about。 then we met the dunne brothers, which eventually turned into the six, and at that point i officially could not put the book down。 i won’t lie the process of reading this book wasn’t all that appealing to me, i mean don’t get me wrong i was enjoying the story nonetheless and i grew to love the characters, watching them all come together, but i couldn’t really understand what was so special abt it while reading it。 i mean i was still intrigued and wanted to learn more about the band and their story with daisy jones so i continued reading ofc, but i didn’t rlly understand the hype at the time。 but now that i’m done with it, the more i self reflect, i think i love it more and more every time i think of it again。 i personally think this book deserves all the hype it gets。 officially an all time fav of mine!! something about this story that’s so beautifully heartbreaking and so surreal。 there’s no amount of words that can describe how i feel about the story told between daisy and the band, and billy, agh i just, idk love it。 that’s it。 i love it。 i love how this book takes you into the minds of musicians, you know, people have different interests and passions, hobbies that they’re passionate about and i loved the way the characters all expressed their love for music。 the way it was written。 whenever billy, or daisy, or karen, or whoever really, would speak of a certain song that one of them had just written/played, they spoke as if the music they had heard was like finding their own art。 i think there are 2 types of people in this world, those who go to art museums and galleries and take in the paintings and other art figures in depth, and understand it in their own way within their own minds, and then those who just see blobs of paint。 those who just go there to take a picture of the art to be able to say they’ve been there and seen this certain painting。 the people who connect with art on a personal level, i think that’s exactly what it was like for the band, except instead of actual paintings, their ‘art’, was their music。 or just music in general。 which from my perspective is so beautiful and also led me to relate and grow attached to these characters on a different level, for i as one also love music and have a connection w music that i don’t think i’d ever be able to describe in words to anyone ever。 i do wish we got more of the other characters in the band tho, and got an equal amount of information on their lives with how we did with the main ones。 would’ve loved to read more about karen’s character and warren too。 also pete omfg!! petition to get pete and jenny’s story behind the scenes!! that’s probably the only complain i have for this book but other than that, i think this was a beautiful story between daisy and the band and i can totally understand the hype。 loved every second of this。 。。。more

it took me ages to read this book because school had been hectic lately。 plus i’m reading like 3 other books at the same time and constantly studying for school etc。 Anyways, i liked this book however it did not fully achieve my expectations after reading “seven husbands of evelyn hugo”。 It was a decent read。 I really liked Daisy and Billy’s character dynamic。 i thought it was very interesting and there were great quotes in this book。 Finding out who the author was, was quite shocking as i wasn’ it took me ages to read this book because school had been hectic lately。 plus i’m reading like 3 other books at the same time and constantly studying for school etc。 Anyways, i liked this book however it did not fully achieve my expectations after reading “seven husbands of evelyn hugo”。 It was a decent read。 I really liked Daisy and Billy’s character dynamic。 i thought it was very interesting and there were great quotes in this book。 Finding out who the author was, was quite shocking as i wasn’t even thinking about that the entire book。 I liked the book but i wouldn’t read it again。 。。。more
